The Lead Fire Protection Installer is responsible for the successful installation of the fire suppression and fire alarm systems. This is a 3-year assignment in Lagos, Nigeria and requires that you have a NICET 3 or 4 certification. The right person will be responsible for overseeing all phases of installation; planning, design coordination, overseeing procurement, preparation and pre-installation, integration and testing, and commissioning.
To be successful, the Lead Fire Protection Installer will build strong communication links with the project team, subcontractors, and the client. They will comply with all company and contract policies, and will conduct individual and business affairs in the highest ethical and legal manner. They will establish and contribute to a supportive, creative, enthusiastic, and cooperative environment for all team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works closely with Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, other Superintendents, and the Project Management Office (PMO) as required, in formulating, discussing and finalizing the overall plan of operations, job layout, job schedule, etc.
Oversee the installation, inspection, and maintenance of fire suppression and fire alarm systems according to industry standards and project specifications.
Collaborate with project stakeholders, including engineers, contractors, and architects, to ensure seamless integration of fire protection systems into the construction project.
Lead a team of installers, providing guidance and supervision throughout the installation process.
Conduct regular site inspections to assess system functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, including reports, diagrams, and records of all installed systems.
Performs additional assignments per project manager's direction
Performs quantity surveys and estimates based on project plans and specifications for fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
Assist in meeting the following objectives:
Ensure compliance with the OBO Design Standards and Criteria
Ensure that only qualified workers who have been properly briefed on the work to be performed have the authorizations, permits, and permissions to proceed under professional supervisory personnel
Provide and/or initiate related safety training as needed
Maintain the records of qualified workers, records of inspections, permits, and activity hazard analyses (AHA)
Confirm work performed at the Project Site related to fire suppression and fire alarm systems and features complies with the OBO Design Standards and Criteria.
DAILY DUTIES
Discuss day’s activities with foreman and managers
Check email for RFI updates, communications with PMO, shipping updates, etc.
Material assessment and installation updates
Meet with management and coordinate with other trades, including PMO check-ins
Discuss and inspect installations with Project Manager, Superintendents, or Client as needed
Coordination with QC Inspections
Coordination with CAD operators on- and off-site
End-of-day review with managers
REQUIREMENTS
NICET 3 or 4 certification
Minimum 5 years of similar installation experience for large-scale construction projects
Minimum 5 years of supervisory field experience with comparable work in the applicable discipline
Strong knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Willingness to relocate to Lagos, Nigeria for the duration of the assignment, 36 months
Knowledge, skill, and experience with U.S. construction means, methods and techniques
