Electrical Superintendent

Pernix Group has an open opportunity for an Electrical Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing all phases of electrical work, telecom work, TSS work, shop drawings, layout and coordination with other trades, both CAD drafting and field personnel in the field. They'll need to work with our client regarding submittals, RFIs and equipment installation daily. They'll be responsible for ensuring installations are in line with latest coordinated drawings. This position will be for an international project in various locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with Project Manager, Quality Control Manager and the PMO as required, in formulating, discussing and finalizing the overall plan of operations, job layout, job schedule, etc.
  • Manages the day-to-day work of crafts and subcontractors in field, delegates work through foreman and/or subcontractor representatives
  • Maintains regular communications with project staff to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
  • Reviews plans and specifications of job, job budget and estimate with project manager to ensure that quantities, values, manpower requirements and deliveries of various divisions of job are understood
  • Participates in weekly progress meetings with subcontractors
  • Assists in preparation of plan at beginning of job, for receiving, storing and handling materials as required
  • Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required
  • Performs additional assignments per project manager's direction
  • Performs quantity surveys and estimates based on project plans and specifications for electrical systems
  • Assist the Electrical Subcommittee in meeting the following objectives:
    • Prevent electrical related injuries
    • Implement proactive controls to guard against anticipated and potential hazards
    • Implement electrical safety training and electrical hazard awareness programs
    • Ensure compliance with US Army corps of Engineers Safety & Health Requirements Manual EM385-1-1 November 2014 Section 11 “Electrical”
    • Ensure that all temporary electrical equipment is installed, operated and maintained to eliminate electrical safety hazards.
    • Ensure that electrical installations and electrical apparatus are installed and inspected by qualified electricians using approved equipment and PPE
    • Ensure that only qualified electricians who have been properly briefed on the work to be performed through an Activity Hazard Analysis, have the authorizations, permits and permissions to proceed under professional supervisory personnel
    • Provide and or initiate electrical safety training
    • Ensure the effective oversight of temporary electrical service installations, maintenance and inspections
    • Establish, maintain, and review an effective Lock Out/ Tag Out Program
    • Assess overall electrical safety performance on a quarterly basis thru audits, inspections, and reviews of electrical work permits, accidents and near misses
    • Maintain the records of qualified electricians, records of inspections, electrical energized work permits, AHA’s, and Lock Out /Tag Out permits
  • Confirm work performed at the Project Site related to power distribution and electricity complies with the requirements of the OBO Electrical Code (National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70), National Electrical Code, as amended by DOS
  • Provide a sketch of the proposed temporary systems, as needed, to the Project Director/COR.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum high school diploma/GED and 5 years total construction management experience required. Four-year degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • Master Electrician certification highly preferred
  • Have a security clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance (Must be a U.S. Citizen)
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory field experience with comparable work in the applicable discipline
  • Knowledge, skill, and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards
