Architectural Superintendent (Lagos)
Lagos, NigeriaPernix is looking to hire a expat Architectural Superintendent for our project in Lagos, Nigeria. The right candidate will be eligible for an expat salary and benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance; basic life and AD&D insurance; short and long term disability insurance; global evac; matching 401k (ROTH available); employee assistance program; as well as optional term life, critical illness, accident, legal, and pet insurance. The Architectural Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all phases of architectural work, shop drawings, layout and coordination with other trades, both CAD drafting and field personnel in the field. Works with OBO/client regarding submittals, RFIs, and equipment installation daily. Ensures installations are in line with latest coordinated drawings.

REQUIREMENTS

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, other Superintendents, and the Project Management Office (PMO) as required, in formulating, discussing and finalizing the overall plan of operations, job layout, job schedule, etc.
- Manages the day-to-day work of crafts and subcontractors in the field, delegates work through foreman and/or subcontractor representatives
- Maintains regular communications with project staff to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, and schedule
- Reviews plans and specifications of job, job budget and estimate with project manager to ensure that quantities, values, manpower requirements, and deliveries of various divisions of job are understood
- Participates in weekly progress meetings with subcontractors
- Assists in preparation of plan at beginning of job, for receiving, storing and handling materials as required
- Assists in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, etc.) as required
- Performs additional assignments per project manager's direction
- Performs quantity surveys and estimates based on project plans and specifications for architectural systems
- Assist in meeting the following objectives:
- Ensure compliance with the OBO Design Standards and Criteria
- Ensure that all temporary architectural equipment is installed, operated and maintained to eliminate safety hazards.
- Ensure that only qualified workers who have been properly briefed on the work to be performed have the authorizations, permits, and permissions to proceed under professional supervisory personnel
- Provide and/or initiate architectural safety training
- Ensure the effective oversight of temporary architectural installations, maintenance, and inspections
- Assess overall architectural safety performance on a quarterly basis through audits, inspections, and reviews of work permits, accidents, and near misses
- Maintain the records of qualified workers, records of inspections, permits, and activity hazard analyses (AHA)
- Confirm work performed at the Project Site related to architectural systems and features complies with the OBO Design Standards and Criteria.
- Provide a sketch of the proposed temporary systems, as needed, to the Project Director/COR.
DAILY DUTIES
- Discuss day’s activities with foreman and managers
- Check email for RFI updates, communications with PMO, shipping updates, etc.
- Material assessment and installation updates from foreman
- Meet with management and coordinate with other trades, including PMO check-ins
- Discuss and inspect installations with OBO
- Coordination with QC Inspections
- Coordination with CAD operators on- and off-site
- End-of-day review with managers
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum high school diploma/GED and 5 years total construction management experience required. Four-year degree in architecture preferred.
- Registered Architect certification highly preferred
- Have a security clearance or the ability to achieve a clearance
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory field experience with comparable work in the applicable discipline
- Knowledge, skill, and experience with U.S. construction methods, techniques, and standards.
